    Examine your thinking:

    Do this for all 10 words 15 min

    Look at your sentences, reflect on them, and answer the following questions in a blog post.

Health Day 7

Yesterday we played Name 5 and went fishing (BB010)


Then we made the coding of your names official and got into groups based on shapes.


In your groups you shared your emotional state of mind to your partner’s by showing them the emoji you drew. (And hopefully got to look at new walls).

Today we will start by getting back to the groups from yesterday (Shape-groups).
In your group you will have several tasks:
  1. Using your Brain Book, (BB011), outline Section 1 of the textbook “Health and Teens” (pages 6-10) using the Headings, and look for any words you don’t know how to pronounce. -3 min 
  2. (Share out, review words)
  3. 10 minutes- take turns reading pages 6-10, and write 1 to 2 important details about each subheading and/or minor heading from your outline.
  4. (BB012) Personal Qualities 15 minutes
Number your paper from 1-10
Choose 10 words to describe yourself
Write the sentence I am ________ for each of the 10 words

5. Complete and publish all 3 blog posts (review my past blog posts for the assignment or check PowerSchool)

Health Day 6

Welcome Back!

Last week, we had a long class period on Friday, and in that class period we:

  • Continued drawing the Nervous System
  • Continued our discussion on Informational Text

  • Got into groups and labeled your Nervous System Diagrams in your Brain Books.
  • Then you did blog work and drafted your first 3 blog posts.


Today we have a shorter class period. (9:30-10:24)

Health Day 5

Yesterday you were re-grouped, and further codified your groups. You then had an 8 minute discussion about Questioning the Author about Informational Text. (We got through Discussion and Message, and left off at Information Link).

Then a few people added the vocabulary words to the Quizlet, and you found out that Quizlet can be edited by multiple people at the same time. You went through the LEARN Activity on Quizlet and found out it does not give you a solid "score" that can be compared to other people's scores.

We then began BB009, Drawing the Nervous System (pages 516-519)

Today,
Longer class period, we will be in class from 8- 9:21.
We will start with continuing to draw the Nervous System (10 minutes)
Then we will have an 8 minute discussion on "Questioning the Author about Informational Text".

15 minutes- Studying: break down the ideas and concepts and put them back together in your own way.

Task:
Label your Nervous System Diagrams using all of the yellow words in the textbook. I'm sure you will have questions as you go, I expect you to refer back to the book, and ask other group members before asking me.

Then we watched and took notes on (BB007) the Media Literacy preview and crowd sourced notes from the group.


We then watched Intro to Media Literacy #1 and took notes (BB008). We ended the day there.

Today, we will start by copying the Nervous System Drawing on the back board

Quizlet Functionality
A's, B's C's, Read through the Yellow Vocabulary Words, and help clarify exactly what the definitions are, while D's edit the Quizlet by adding each vocabulary word and the definition from the book, pages 516-519.

When all of the words are added, go through the "Learn" on your own

Health Day 3

Yesterday, you wrote about fishing from the Bumpity Bump Bump game. (BB entry 005)

You then brainstormed a mind map on the word “thoughts”.


We also watched the open source learning video and took notes (BB entry 006)

Then you joined Google Classroom, and entered data on a collaborative Google Sheet titled “Data Collection.

At the end of the day, we discussed the words “ sub neuronal lightning storm”


It was determined that the neurons in the brain are not physically attached, but that there is a space in between them. At the end of the class period, I left you with a question.

“What is that space called?“


Today: Get back into groups from yesterday

Day 2 Health with Mr. Grimm

Welcome back! I hope your first day of school was all you hoped it would be!

Yesterday in Period 1, we went outside and did a name activity. The first one was to circle up alphabetically, the second was called Bumpity Bump Bump. (Say a name within the time limit).

When we came in from the activity, we went "Fishing". The picture below shows some feedback from the activity. There is an old saying- a picture is worth a thousand words.

Write 50 or so of those words based on this picture. (Your entry today is actually 005, ignore the 002 on the picture)





Where you are at- Groups of 4
Instructions: Number each person 1-4, use a post it note to write your number and put it on the inside of your Brain Book. This will help create some order as we move through the day. (Task assignments).
