Algebra Week 6

Quizzes from Friday are graded and entered. This week we’ll continue to work on fractions. Today we reviewed the quiz, and re-watched the how-to video for FINDING MIXED NUMBERS.

HW today was to draw your own sets of fraction strips: one set has 3 parts in each unit, one set has 4 parts in each unit, and one set has 5 parts in each unit. Then you were to shade in some of the parts so another person could write the fraction.
Yay.

Garden questions

1. Quiz
2. Make sure you have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Blog Posts
3. Rank yourself on the Group Activity Rubric
4. Glue in your Group Activity Rubric
5. Class Discussion

The task today was to measure the perimeter of the garden as outlined on the notes sheet.
List 3 problems you ran into while trying to measure the garden area.
List 2 things that would help this task get finished quickly and accurately next time.

BTW we were in the garden for about 30 minutes.

  • Who will clear away the pile of sawdust?
  • How much space do we have to make new planter boxes?

  • Water supply: reroute the hose straight to the planter box- what supplies do we need to do this?

  • What steps do we need to take to get this done?
  •  Should we move the boxes to a different location? If we want to, whose permission do we ask? Where do we move them to?
  •  How do we move them? What supplies will we need?
  • Have we waited too long to grow starts from seeds?
  • Should we build a compost pile?

  • Should we clear out the old dirt? Why or why not?
  • Should we keep the dividers? Why or why not?
  • What do we need in order to replace the missing white PVC pipe?
  • How should we share the growing space?
  • How do we test the watering system?
  • What if there is a hole in the watering system? What materials do we need to repair the watering system?
