Building Life Skills

Here are some thoughts that were shared with me when I told the students that I didn’t think they were very engaged with the curriculum.
  • There is a disconnect between what is being taught, and the reality of their lives.
  • They would like to be shown exactly what to do in order to solve the problems we are examining.
I’d like to hear what you have to say in the form of a short story. Write a story in which the main character is noticing a friend displaying many of the signs of alcoholism. In the story, describe the main character approaching that friend and encouraging him or her to seek help. Be descriptive in the language used, and bring your own insights about into the story.
